Relay For Life
In May we contributed a team to the Foothills Relay for Life - a terrific community event that raised over $100,000 to find a cure for cancer. Too many of our members' lives have been touched by cancer. Read our touching and entertaining Relay for Life Twitter Journal.
On the first of every month, we collect canned and other nonperishable foods and deliver them to the food pantry at our neighbor UMC church in Tujunga, and to the ECPAC Friends in Deed House in Pasadena.
Ecumenical Council of Pasadena
We support the best run Food Pantry, Women's Room and Bad Weather Shelter in the San Gabriel Valley, coordinated by the Ecumenical Council of Pasadena Area Churches. Check it out at www.ecpac.net.
Gather, Inspire, Act
We believe that getting out to meet neighbors and educating ourselves about current issues of peace and justice that effect all of us is a good thing. It helps to keep isolation at bay and it cultivates hope. So we have a monthly Friday night film. Some recent screenings have been "1984," "I Am," http://www.iamthedoc.com/
Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator," and "Disturbing the Peace." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5503512/
We also collaborate with the Montrose Peace Vigil, showing up at their Friday night vigils on the corner of Honolulu and Ocean View and marching with their Peace Train in Montrose's Annual Holiday Parade on the first Saturday of December.
